Crystal polishing on a dress watch that had picked up a cluster of fine scratches over a few years of daily use. Quick turnaround — collected after two days. The crystal looks noticeably better. One small scratch near the edge is still faintly visible in certain light, but I was told at intake that it might not come out fully. Fair enough.

The workshop was the only one I found in northern Thailand that would take the job seriously rather than either refusing it or attempting a generic redo. The colour match is very close. Took three weeks as quoted. I've already referred two colleagues.

Case Study 01 · Pocket Watch
Swiss hunter-case pocket watch, circa 1910
Challenge
Movement had not run for at least a decade. Several teeth broken on the calendar disc. Platform escapement was seized and the mainspring had fractured.
Approach
Written assessment issued after initial inspection. Calendar disc sourced from a compatible donor movement. Platform escapement disassembled, parts cleaned and measured. Mainspring replaced. Eleven weeks total.
Outcome
Movement running and regulated to within ±45 seconds per day across five positions. Calendar mechanism advancing correctly. Owner received regulation results in writing.

Case Study 02 · Dial Refinishing
1960s French dress watch, silver dial
Challenge
Dial had aged unevenly — the upper half significantly more yellow than the lower. Original print was still legible but the surface had patchy oxidisation marks.
Approach
Owner's preference established first — an honest refresh, not a new-looking dial. Surface cleaned, uneven oxidisation addressed, and a matching base applied to even the tone. Original print retained. Three weeks.
Outcome
Dial tone now consistent across the surface. Original text and indices intact. Hands refitted and aligned. Owner chose to keep the piece, having previously considered selling it due to its condition.

Case Study 03 · Complication Restoration
Perpetual calendar pocket watch, mid-20th century
Challenge
Calendar mechanism had been incorrectly reassembled at some prior service. Movement would run for a day or two before stopping. Calendar advancing erratically on some months.
Approach
Full disassembly. Source of the stopping identified as a misaligned lever that caused periodic fouling. Calendar mechanism mapped and reassembled in correct sequence. Twelve weeks including sourcing a replacement lever.
Outcome
Movement running continuously. Calendar advancing correctly including across short and long months. Regulation to ±30 seconds per day. Owner received a full job record at collection.
